Jet Setter Luxe

This fall we've seen a resurgence of American Sportswear silhouettes and denim on denim. I saw a wonderful title for this next look of fall. It was named The Global Aristocrat, which I find to be so utterly luxurious and decadent. It just sounds expensive. Encapsulating all things fine, this jet setter look includes furs, sequins, leather, metallic embellishments, and a variety of beautiful textiles.

Mixing it Up

I'm trying to be more daring with my outfits. After seeing this photo shoot and this style post, I was inspired to start mixing prints & textures, and layers jewelry. I'm very by the book and it looks like I should start looking at different books! So long, jeans and a striped tee! Hello, floral cardi, striped tee  and polka dot pants!

Also, how much do you love that metallic pouf in her arms? I want one in my house!

{On the Same Wavelength}... Geometric Pink + Gray

Who says your outfit can't match your handbag? Now I'm all for mixing and matching! But... Sometimes, we all need some good ol' fashion coordination in our lives.  What I love about this look is that it has the same great papaya pink with beige and slate in a bold geometric design in both the dress and tote. However, they are so different and complementary because the dress is a pretty busy whimsical pattern of circles and the tote is very minimalistic with a single bright stripe for accenting. The tailoring of the dress makes it appropriate for work, brunch or a graduation party. The tote is roomy enough to hold all your transitional essentials like flats and lipstick. Whatever your schedule dictates, this summery geometric ensemble is perfect.

Black, White & Red All Over

How fantastic is this deck of cards wallpaper? I wouldn't call myself a gambler, but I am tempted to use this paper on a feature wall...It's bold both chromatically and graphically. I love that is has so many hearts hidden in it and the curves against the harsh points. Black and red sometimes have this connotation of being "bad" and hard core. This is probably because every villain in every story wears only black and red. I think we should change that. Create a wardrobe and home that is stunning with these killer colors and feel bad in a really good way.

Little Love...DVF + Gap Kids

"Imagine a garden in black and white...how sad that would be. This collection is all about celebrating life and color."
The queen of timeless fashion, Diane von Furstenberg, has teamed up with Gap Kids. Gap is one of my favorite clothing stores, especially for whimsical, fun, affordable children's clothing. Diane works with fabulously funky patterns and bold colors to create a children's line of which I'm totally envious! Looks like the little tykes I know will be getting lots of clothing love from me....I applaud Gap and the lovely DVF for this fantastic partnership. I hope to see more exciting collaboration in the future! Bravo and three cheers for super cute kids!

Story on the Go

A self-declared book worm and handbag enthusiast, these Kate Spade New York book clutches are right up my alley! I love the map of a city in the numeral two! They're quirky, chic and, well, Kate Spade. How can we say no?

P.S. Have you checked out the new theme by Kate Spade New York now available for your desktop? Available here.

Fancy Pants

Madewell has some really amazing things right now! I'm loving the great pattern pants! They add so much to an outfit. The nice thing is you can wear a simple shirt and shoes, or go crazy and do bright pumps and another pattern on top! Pants with pattern make me feel all dance crazy! To me, they just say, "Yeah, I like to have fun, I like to dance like crazay, and I'm one cool cat."

Handy Bag

As you may know, I'm taking a small family vacation with my large family to Florida this summer! I'm so excited and can't wait to break out my bright neon bags. The only this is...I'm a terrible packer. Always have been, always will. So it's difficult bringing all the bags I want. However, I'm looking into getting some Baggu bags! They fold into super tiny pockets and take up zero room! They look ultra cool and chic. The Baggo bags come in great bold prints, electric hues and so many designs. Not to mention, they're really affordable. Backpacks, little pouches, totes, and more! Have you ever had a Baggu bag?

Peacock Print & Pigment

Teals, emeralds, plums and periwinkles. I love them all! Peacock feathers were once signs of wealth and would show up in home decode, dress and the like. Now, they're just down right cool. Although I've never been a huge fan of wearing actual feathery earrings, I think the metal alternative by Lucky Brand are totally rad. Sometimes, there's this idea that peacock "theme" can be a little ultra-quirky. It's okay to have a theme to your outfit or event. Just make sure it's not too literal.

Try wearing a dress or bracelet that features the same hues of peacock feathers. With a simple shift dress, wear some funky feather tights. Grab a basic, but interesting clutch with the peacock feather print or wear a feather in your hair, but keep the rest of your outfit simplistic so that your accessory can really make a statement. You don't want to look like Big Bird.

Even centering a dinner or party around the peacock can feel fun, aristocratic and easy. You're entire table doesn't have to match. In fact, I suggest it should never match. Your dish ware could be teal, while your stemware or water glasses be purple. Flower arrangements or candles can feature shades of greens with some pops of blue and plum. Heck, add a peacock feather or two in the bouquet!

So if you're getting inspired by something, weather it be art or animals, go with it!

{NYFW} Mercedes Benz...Diane von Furstenberg

It is an already well known fact: Diane von Furstenberg can do no wrong. A designer goddess, the creator of the wrap dress, DVF consistently creates bold, beautiful designs for women. I am so enjoying the burgundy fuchsia (the it color for fall), the teals, yellow and bold black & white prints. What is your favorite look? Have you noticed the incorporation of patent leather on the runway a lot? I love it. The handbags in this collection are also fabulous.

Off the Cuff

Recently, I've been so attracted to having one statement item. The millions of tiny beaded & woven bracelets for each arm is now seeming so excessive for the return. They don't really make a statement, they just kind of clutter your arm & make your outfit look a little distracted. I'm all for the effortless look, but I prefer it to still be really clean & chic. As a solution, try wearing one large cuff. If you're really daring, try out the double cuff look, wearing matching cuff on each wrist. The cuffs above are so amazing. They're bold & elegance simultaneously, which can be so difficult to achieve. The double cuff look can be equally interesting. It simply completes a look. If you're like me, a chronic 3/4 length girl (or one who always shoves her long sleeves to mid forearm), these really polish you off!

I Adore My...Keyper by Fossil

So...if you've been wondering what I got in my stocking for Christmas (which was over a month ago -  yikes!) here's a little peek. My lovely parents gave me these amazing Keyper Pouches by Fossil. I love them. They are so amazing! I use the largest one for all my cables and cords when I'm on the go. It has by iPhone cords, camera cord, earbuds, charger extension cord, external hard drive and more! The two little guys contain my essentials so I can easily switch handbags. Sometimes, I use them as a little clutch when I have a quick outing that doesn't require lots of supplies. I highly recommend these puppies! Durable, functional and totally rad.

P.S...There are tons of designs and colors! I may be getting a few more patterns soon!

Cold Shoulder

With the lack of snow here in Minnesota, I'm getting my summer's itch. I'm loving bold, bright floral patters. I feel like a walking garden! This top from ASOS seems like the perfect transition shirt. It still has "sleeves" so it's appropriate for those awkward in between weeks from winter to spring. Once the sun appears & we hit warm weather, with the cold shoulder style, it's like you're wearing a sleeveless! Genius!

{On the Same Wavelength}... Stripes

Kate Spade New York & Equipment must have had the same stroke of genius when they created this bag & this blouse. The spearmint color gives these items so much fresh vibrancy. They both are brilliantly paired with a neutral like black or deep midnight navy to keep it sophisticated & prevent it from getting too overwhelmingly juvenile. I know that pastel citrus is the trend for Spring 2012, and I couldn't be a bigger fan. But for days that I'm feeling a little different, these would be great alternatives while still being springy.

Not Just for Babies...Bibs

And we thought that bibs were for babies. Not anymore. This trend is becoming more and more popular. What do you like best? The full on bib like #7? Or the abstract like #2? Is the intermediate plate like style more your thing, as seen in #5 and 6? Would you wear this trend? If so, with what would you wear it?

ISSA + Print

Issa makes absolutely gorgeous dresses. The silhouettes are flattering, classic & refined. I feel as though I normally see solid colors with Issa, so this kimono is amazingly bold & beautiful. The colors are fresh for spring & vibrant for lounging on the beach in summertime. I would love nothing more than tossing on this kimono, swiping on some bronzer & doing errands, reading & the like.
