Into the Woods

Sometimes I dream of living in L.A., Santa Monica, Orange County. Other days I see myself in Maine, New York, New Haven, Providence. Then I look outside my window and see lush grass, large oaks and dozens of woodland creatures just hanging in my backyard. Sure, the bunnies and chipmunks eat my flowers and the deer run down my vegetation. But I can't think of anything better. This beautiful wallpaper is just rustic enough without being overly cheesy. I'd love to see it on a wall with a shimmery glaze over it. The print reminds me a Snow White in a way.

Peacock Print & Pigment

Teals, emeralds, plums and periwinkles. I love them all! Peacock feathers were once signs of wealth and would show up in home decode, dress and the like. Now, they're just down right cool. Although I've never been a huge fan of wearing actual feathery earrings, I think the metal alternative by Lucky Brand are totally rad. Sometimes, there's this idea that peacock "theme" can be a little ultra-quirky. It's okay to have a theme to your outfit or event. Just make sure it's not too literal.

Try wearing a dress or bracelet that features the same hues of peacock feathers. With a simple shift dress, wear some funky feather tights. Grab a basic, but interesting clutch with the peacock feather print or wear a feather in your hair, but keep the rest of your outfit simplistic so that your accessory can really make a statement. You don't want to look like Big Bird.

Even centering a dinner or party around the peacock can feel fun, aristocratic and easy. You're entire table doesn't have to match. In fact, I suggest it should never match. Your dish ware could be teal, while your stemware or water glasses be purple. Flower arrangements or candles can feature shades of greens with some pops of blue and plum. Heck, add a peacock feather or two in the bouquet!

So if you're getting inspired by something, weather it be art or animals, go with it!

Have a Cozy Christmas

Christmas vacation is truly the epitome of relaxation. With all the fluffy snow, warm fireplace, never ending plate of cookies & hot chocolate, it screams (or carols) coziness. Here is my wish list of cuddly winter gear. I hardly love anything more than having lazy days in the middle of winter. Watching the snow fall, listening to Michael Buble & Garrison Keillor, playing Scrabble. All of these activities require warm wool, holiday aromas & my favorite chocolate from Germany. Wishing you a wonderfully cozyday!

What are your comfy winter favorites? What makes a day perfectly cozy for you?

Into the Wild

Cute hat for the cold days.

I saw this hat and it got me thinking how much I love a subtle animal print. Don't get me wrong. I don't want to look like Jane & Tarzan. But I find it looks very tasteful in small doses. Here are a few things that call to my animal spirit!

Fun thing: Apparently, there is a belief that when every person is born, an animal spirit enters the baby's soul to be a companion and guide throughout their life...

Tortoise shades for the sunny weather.
Sparkly animal print cross body for a night on the town.

Make a statement in this ferocious trench.

Here's a fun little video from one of my favorite guilty pleasure shows!

Be Bold

I recently got a great black dress similar to this! I am so excited because it is so versatile. I think I'll be wearing this all winter and dressing it up different ways for Christmas, New Years and other parties. Here are a few accessories I'll be adding to change the look!

A bold, bright necklace. (No other jewelry necessary.)
