{Fall Threads}...Auntie's Parlor

This fall we've seen so many fun and applicable trends like all black, oxblood, and classic American Sportswear. One of the most spectacular looks was beautiful brocades. Although I've never really been a granny chic enthusiast, these elaborate textiles reminded me of the sofas that populate your tea drinking, crumpet nibbling auntie. They're prim, proper, and luxurious.

Tweed Off

L'Wren Scott

A beloved fall trend...the grandpa look. Cozy, nubby knits; elbow patches and slouchy pockets; flannel and tweed. Thankfully, with the emphasis on American Sportswear and The Iron Lady, the grandpa look just went from dowdy to dapper in tweed.

Tweed makes me think of studies with leather chairs, cigars, red lipstick, coffee, literature, and phonographs. All things timelessly sophisticated. We are seeing a beautiful fall trend evoking cultivated, confident, comfortable lifestyles all unified. Fabulous! What does tweed make you think of?

{Look Book Love}...Vero Moda

I really fell in love with Vero Moda when I was shopping in Europe. Their look book for autumn is stunning. (It probably helps that the gorgeous Alexa Chung is modeling the clothes.)With lacey details, drop waists and collars galore - it's the perfect mix of vintage with modern twists.

Isn't the styling of the shoot fantastic? Rustic, earthy and even bare, it allows the fantastically feminine nature of the line to really show through!

{Splurge or Save}...Spotted Shorts

Y'all know I love me some polka dots! I just posted about how we've been seeing spots and dots all over this place for fall. Although we'd love to wear cardigans and wool knickers, early fall can still be toasty! I love pairing shorts with a light sweater for early fall, So make sure you ease from summer to fall with some polka dot shorties! Both these shorts are a great burnt sienna tan that will be a great transition for seasons!

Dot, Dot, Dot...

Besides American Sportswear, aristocratic jet-setter chic, and fantastically rich colors, polka dots have made quite the mark for fall fashion. I'm jazzed! Stripes and polka dots are my favorites. Feeling unsure about how to style this seemingly childish patter? No worries!

Daytime: I enjoy pairing two prints. Just make sure that one print is larger than the other. Above, I have a purple polka dot jean paired with a larger polka dot loafer and basic white blouse. Add some basic accessories for a transition to evening.

Nighttime: wear a demure polka dot dress with a little waist. Add a sparkly sandal for all night dancing, and a shimmery clutch that doubles as a wallet during the day in your tote. Some fabby baubles make this evening look whimsical and cool.

Jet Setter Luxe

This fall we've seen a resurgence of American Sportswear silhouettes and denim on denim. I saw a wonderful title for this next look of fall. It was named The Global Aristocrat, which I find to be so utterly luxurious and decadent. It just sounds expensive. Encapsulating all things fine, this jet setter look includes furs, sequins, leather, metallic embellishments, and a variety of beautiful textiles.

Denim Delight

Yesterday we talked about American Sportswear making a statement this fall. This week we'll be covering some fall fashion headliners and shopping tips. Sportswear is a casual interpretation of men's meets women's clothing. Along with variated silhouettes, certain fabrics accompany the different seasons. For fall we're seeing a lot of denim! Righteous. Not only denim, but layers of denim. Denim is a woven fabric with little stretch (occasionally incorporating a little spandex for give) so you'll need to try lots of sizes on.

Something I'm really excited about is dyed denim, chambray shirts, and denim jackets. There are so many options beyond the traditional bootcut.

Sporty with a Chance of Navy

3.1 Phillip Lim
If there's one thing that gets my blood tingling (and thickening), it's the anticipation of a new season. In the Midwest, we're some lucky ducks who get to experience all sorts of weather, and the wonderful variation of fashion that tags along.

This fall, we're seeing an assortment of classic looks including inky navy blue, all black, full on winter whites, and crimson. Notice that all of these hues have a very varsity, if not patriotic, association? They're classic colors for college teams, and the U.S. I'm predicting American Sportswear to make a big scene this coming season, considering the Olympics are taking place. A heightened sense of patriotism (along with some fabulous uniforms by sportswear prep designer Ralph Lauren) might lead us to a lovely road of classic American Sportswear. A timeless look for which I'm totally jazzed!

{Splurge or Save}...Celebrity Edition Pt. 1

Confession: I watch Keeping Up with the Kardashians. I know, I know. . . But let's move on.
Kim wore this interesting two piece ensemble for the Cannes Film Festival. Do you remember who Gwenyth also wore it? (I'd love to know who you think wore it best!) Some people loved this, others did not. While I'm not a huge fan of its entirety, There are a few parts I love. . . Let's see how you can get this look for a lot cheaper!

1. Black mesh and lace over a nude sheath. Black is, like always, very on trend for the fall. The hint of "skin" really jazzes it up, though.

2. The emphasis on the waist is phenomenal with this skirt/top combination. Although it could flirt with the icky side, since it covers the navel and bares only 1.5-2 inches, it's simply sexy. The Dorothy Perkins dress I've selected does the opposite and features a lovely, black sash to emphasize your waist.

3. I usually love a cap sleeve, but on this, I don't really care for it. It's interesting, but for our purposes, the sleeves are a tad impractical. So the save dress that you can wear is sleeveless. It'll be great for transition between all seasons.

{NYFW} Mercedes Benz...Naeem Khan

I am so loving the monochromatic look from the Fall 2012 collection for Naeem Khan. The reason I love neutral colors is the attention is on the great patters, cuts and detailing with all the sequins & beading. The lace gown is especially attractive, along with the pants! Amazing pants in this collection!

{NYFW} Mercedes Benz...Venexiana

I am so obsessed with the first & second look. All of the rich hues, elegant, evening gown silhouettes, and detailing. So darkly mysterious and glamorous.

{NYFW} Mercedes Benz...Diane von Furstenberg

It is an already well known fact: Diane von Furstenberg can do no wrong. A designer goddess, the creator of the wrap dress, DVF consistently creates bold, beautiful designs for women. I am so enjoying the burgundy fuchsia (the it color for fall), the teals, yellow and bold black & white prints. What is your favorite look? Have you noticed the incorporation of patent leather on the runway a lot? I love it. The handbags in this collection are also fabulous.
