Metamorphosis

We've been talking about some change lately, and you may have noticed a physical change to the blog over the week. I've been experimenting with different layouts, themes, color schemes, even names! Perhaps you stopped by for the twenty minutes that I thought about changing it from "Clyde and Nora" to "Copperboom"! Although it may seem crazy to change it up so frequently, I find that it allows me to keep the blog (and also my writing) fresh. It also allows Abby to create some wonderful ideas. In case you were wondering, Abby usually designs all my headers, layouts, etc. She's pretty fabulous. She runs her blog, Classic Kitsch, which is just that. It's awesome, just like her.

Anyway, I'm trying to embrace change over here. By changing it up on the blog, I allow myself to do it in more areas of my life as well. This is especially helpful, because on the blog I can visually see the good change. I see the metamorphosis into a beautiful product. I just need to remember that it also happens in life. We just don't see it. At least not instantly.

{Weekend Update}...Surprise!

A fun surprise for us (and the police) when the meter died mid coin feeding.
This weekend Abby went home for the Viennese Ball! I was planning on staying in the cities to catch up on lots of work. But, surprise! At the spur of the moment I decided to go home as well. I didn't tell my mom so when we drove back with Dad, would couldn't let her know. (Keeping secrets like this are fun, aren't they?) When she came home from work, her surprised excitement was well worth the neglected work on my desk back in Minneapolis. I ended having tons of fun surprising friends and family who weren't expecting me. Not to mention, Abby and Alex looked gorgeous! I ate wonderful food that can only be found in my hometown and enjoyed Jacob's surprise when he ate an entire medium pizza. Woah!

Color Me Happy

As you may know, this past weekend I did a little shopping with Abby and Alex, who was visiting. I was overjoyed by how many bright, beautiful colors filled the stores. I just had to pick up these little flowers (similar style here) for your hair. I'm in-between hair cuts right now, so as my bangs and loose ends grow out, they are the perfect glorified bobby pins. I also found these amazing necklaces at Gap. They have even more in some great colors (I may have to get them) but I stuck with the pinky peach & orange colors I've been loving recently. Of course, all my accessories were so bright I needed some sunglasses! To top it off, I picked up a great water color stripe tee with rivet detailing on the pocket. I adore this aqua because it looks good on everybody! Seriously. Find a person who doesn't look good in an ocean cerulean. I've officially begun the spring-summer wardrobe overhaul.

An Office Afternoon

One of my favorite shows, The Office, has now found inspiration in one of my favorite painting, Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte by Seurat. This is one of the most genius imitations I've seen in a long time. Now, let me gush about The Office. I worried that the show would take a sever hit in ratings after Steve Carell as Michael Scott left. However, the writer & actors have really stepped up their performance. Every episode I've seen this season has been top notch in wit, humor & occasional raunch. Well, done, NBC. If you're feeling inspired by this beautiful piece of art, check out Abby's blog for her column of Artistic Inspiration

Not a Gardener

Abby brought home this beautiful African Violet that she planted in a plant propagation class last week. Isn't is just lovely? My grandma adores African Violets. I must have inherited that. What I didn't' inherit? A green thumb. Just look at it now....
I honestly don't know what happened! I like fresh air, but keeping it near the window in a MN winter may have been a little hard on the poor thing. Even though it's dead, I enjoyed having some living pop of color amongst the cold bleak snow & sky. Looking forward to spring!

{I Adore My}...Scarves

If there is one thing I have an abundance of, it's scarves. They are seriously spilling out of closets & drawers; cascading from coat hooks & bed posts. Is that too much? "Everything in moderation," right? But let's be honest, we all have that one thing we can't get enough of. I could say I "collect" them, but I don't! I wear them! It's not excessive, it's expressive. Everyone I know buys me scarves for gifts. Heck, it's my thing! It's my thing to get scarves & it's my thing to give scarves. They're great gifts! Therefore, I conclude there is no such thing as too many scarves. Or too many hats, too many sweaters. We're Americans. We're just fulfilling the stereotype of massive consumerism. :) Just doing our job.

Here is Abby with only a portion of out scarf collection. Doesn't she look adorable?

What do you "collect" or love to buy? Is there one thing people know you love & always buy for you? Can you have too much of something?

Spotlight: Classic Kitsch

I hope you've noticed my ultra-rad new header for the blog! It is compliments of my crazy talented twin sister, Abby. She has her own blog, Classic Kitsch, a blog about fashion, food, design and the occasional random musings.

Abby was brilliant & crafted two possible headers based on my favorite clothes, accessories, makeup and fragrances. Totally sweet.

Which one do you like?

Abby is one of the most creative individuals I know, thus it makes complete sense that she is an aspiring interior decorator & art historian. (Talk about ambitious & well rounded!) She is the best sister & roommate a girl like me could ask for. If I like her, you'll definitely like her! Follow her on The Blog, Twitter, Pinterest & Facebook.
