Garden Girl

As you probably know by now, I'm infatuated with blissful blooms and pastels. I've got an entire pin board devoted to florals and other botanical delights! Even though this fall is dominated by crimson, navy, and the classic black, I always love an ethereal element. The sunrise yesterday with these colors was pure beauty. These floaty pinks, sky blues, and peaches are drawing me in. I love adding an earthy taupe to keep it grounded!

What colors have you been inspired by lately?

Sporty with a Chance of Navy

3.1 Phillip Lim
If there's one thing that gets my blood tingling (and thickening), it's the anticipation of a new season. In the Midwest, we're some lucky ducks who get to experience all sorts of weather, and the wonderful variation of fashion that tags along.

This fall, we're seeing an assortment of classic looks including inky navy blue, all black, full on winter whites, and crimson. Notice that all of these hues have a very varsity, if not patriotic, association? They're classic colors for college teams, and the U.S. I'm predicting American Sportswear to make a big scene this coming season, considering the Olympics are taking place. A heightened sense of patriotism (along with some fabulous uniforms by sportswear prep designer Ralph Lauren) might lead us to a lovely road of classic American Sportswear. A timeless look for which I'm totally jazzed!

A Not Too Sappy Love Poem

I found this on Pinterest and fell in love! I'm normally not one for love poetry. Sure, I love a good book of poems, but the love ones always feel the same. Overly emotional, oozing with sap and lovey goop. This poem by Hafiz, a fourteenth century poet, really makes me smile. It's simple and there is a child like element of simplicity, which I adore.

It's difficult, I think, for a love poem to be universally like. Because love is so very different for everybody, it's difficult to describe. That's why I don't take too much stock in those, "10 Tips to Make it 5,000 Years" articles. This, however, is just beautiful.

Wouldn't it make a beautiful quote for a wedding?

Let There Be Light

I find rooms to be most aesthetically pleasing when there is an abundance of natural light. While I am forever fascinated and enamored by light fixtures, nothing beats the way sunlight fills a room. Depending on paint and furnishings, it can surround you in an intoxicatingly vibrant and warm glow; it can be crystal clean with brilliant white light dancing off every available surface. Have you ever noticed people actually glow in sunlight? I don't know if it's their skin or just their soul reflecting outward, but sunlight changes atmospheres. These rooms have gorgeous and refreshing natural light.

Into the Woods

Sometimes I dream of living in L.A., Santa Monica, Orange County. Other days I see myself in Maine, New York, New Haven, Providence. Then I look outside my window and see lush grass, large oaks and dozens of woodland creatures just hanging in my backyard. Sure, the bunnies and chipmunks eat my flowers and the deer run down my vegetation. But I can't think of anything better. This beautiful wallpaper is just rustic enough without being overly cheesy. I'd love to see it on a wall with a shimmery glaze over it. The print reminds me a Snow White in a way.

{Splurge or Save}...Studded Lobes

I posted these babies on Pinterest a few days ago and they were a hit! Wowza, they spread like wildfire! Maybe it's because studded earrings are so awesome! Not only are they edgy, they're also unique. I love that both of these take a twist of the normally hard core studded look to make them refined and preppy, or brightly funky and kind of art-deco-esque! Both would be great additions to any wardrobe.
